Breastfeeding Residency Curriculum
The Breastfeeding Residency curriculum has been designed to be flexible. The AAP
has pilot tested this curriculum at 14 residency programs across the country for
the past 2 years. Each residency program tailored the curriculum to their unique
needs, as you can too.
We want to help you plan the curriculum that best fits your needs. To help, we have
a General Implementation Strategy
as well as examples of how other residency programs have structured their programs.
It is best to start with the General Implementation Strategy. It outlines the steps you need to take
to be able to implement this curriculum successfully. The residency program examples
will show you how other programs have implemented this curriculum over several years,
1 year, 1 rotation, or even how to do the bulk of the curriculum in 1 day. The Example
of a Resident Activity Checklist/Sign Off Form can help you track the progress of the residents through the curriculum no matter
what strategy you choose.
