2014 Award Winner
Tom Faber, MD, MPH, FAAP
Tom Faber, MD, MPH, FAAP is a pediatrician with the Zuni Indian Health Service hospital in New Mexico. Dr. Faber saw firsthand that the lack of after school and summer programs was affecting the health of Zuni youth. With the help of a CATCH planning grant in 2007, he worked with tribal members to plan the first summer camp, which would lead to the development of sports leagues, a garden project, and eventually an independent non-profit -- the Zuni Youth Enrichment Project (ZYEP). Through these programs, ZYEP has become a sustainable source of health for Zuni youth which embodies the CATCH mission of empowering pediatricians to make meaningful differences in their communities.
