2012 AWARD RECIPIENT

		Tina Cheng, MD, MPH, FAAP is Chief of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Cheng is active in clinical care, research, advocacy, and teaching medical and public health students. Her clinical and research interests are in child and adolescent injury and violence epidemiology and prevention, teen pregnancy and parenting, community-based research, and access to care. She is a committed advocate on the individual level with patients and families, on the regional level in developing innovative programs to promote child health, and federally through promotion of child health policy issues.

ABOUT THE AWARD

Named for Job Lewis Smith, MD, one of the founding fathers of the American Pediatric Society and chief pioneer of American pediatrics, the Council on Community Pediatrics' Job Lewis Smith Award recognizes outstanding service in community pediatrics.

The Job Lewis Smith Award is presented to a pediatrician with a history of significant career achievements in community pediatrics. Nominees will have a demonstrated history of achievements in one or more of the following areas: community pediatrics practice, research, advocacy, and training.
