Prevention & Public Health Special Interest Group

BACKGROUND

The Prevention and Public Health Special Interest Group (SIG) is jointly supported by the Council on Community Pediatrics and the Section on Epidemiology. The SIG promotes public health approaches to child health and collaboration between pediatricians and public health professionals.

GOALS

  1. Education: Develop and promote educational resources that integrate public health approaches and clinical medicine.
  2. Policy: Develop and implement AAP policy that integrates public health approaches and clinical medicine.
  3. Collaboration: Provide collaboration opportunities between pediatricians and public health professionals that advance child health.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES

The Prevention and Public Health SIG is currently developing a new policy statement on the Intersections between Public Health and Pediatrics. The SIG is also revising the Pediatrician's Role in Community Pediatrics policy statement.
