The AAP's global mission is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well being for all children around the world. To accomplish this mission, the Academy will, through its Office of International Affairs (OIA), support the professional needs and interests of its membership to work internationally, identify organizations that can further the international mission of the AAP, and collaborate with them efficiently.
The AAP's vision is, by 2015, AAP will be recognized as an exemplary partner in improving child health worldwide.
The AAP Office of International Affairs (OIA) is committed to a leadership role in exploring global opportunities to advance child health, to establish and strengthen relationships with peer societies, to address pediatric education needs, to promote AAP intellectual resources and membership services, to help build capacity of pediatric societies under the International Pediatric Association (IPA) umbrella, and to increase volunteer/staff collaboration. The OIA is also responsible for providing administrative support for the AAP Section on International Child Health and managing its ICATCH programs.
