Participation in PROS studies affects practice routines in varying degrees. Studies usually ask for completion of brief data collection forms (only parts of which need to be filled out by the practitioner). Studies often require informed consent from practitioners, parents, and/or patients. Practices usually (but not always) are reimbursed a modest amount to defray some of the costs in time and office personnel.

PROS practices are not required to participate in all studies, but they are expected to remain active in the network by participating frequently.
