How to Join the Section

The Provisional Section on Tobacco Control (PSOTCo) currently welcomes all American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) members who would like to join us in accomplishing the mission and goals of our section. The PSOTCo Executive Committee is committed to making the Section on Tobacco Control a multidisciplinary collaboration. We will draw from the strengths of the AAP Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence, building initiative and energy to address the challenge that tobacco poses to children’s health. The Executive Committee is excited to work alongside others that share their same passion.

 

AAP Members - Join Now!

The Executive Committee is now accepting current AAP Members to join the provisional Section. Please note an application and Tobacco Disclosure Statement are required. Join the PSOTCo.

 

Dues

There are no dues for this new AAP section.

 

Affiliate Members - Join our waitlist for future notification.

Once the provisional Section is approved to accept affiliate members (anticipated July 2013), we hope to expand our professional base to include the following types of members:

• Allied health care professionals (examples: nurses, advanced practice providers, psychologists, epidemiologists, social workers)

• International pediatricians or licensed physicians not otherwise eligible for AAP membership (e.g. internists or family practitioners)

• Research professionals/educators with an advanced degree (PhD, EdD)

• Public health and educational professionals (examples: MPH, state and local health department tobacco control staff, child care professionals, educators)

• Others as deemed appropriate by the Section Executive Committee and membership.

The Executive Committee is in the process of developing affiliate member requirements. In the meantime, any interested potential affiliate member is invited to join our waiting list so that they will be the first to know when the affiliate application process is open. Send an e-mail to notobacco@aap.org and ask to be added to our Affiliate Waitlist.
