The Executive Committee of the Provisional Section on Tobacco Control (PSOTCo) would like to thank you for your interest in our section.
The PSOTCo, formed in July 2012, is a multidisciplinary section which was inspired by the success of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Julius B. Richmond Center of Excellence, which has been supporting tobacco research, policy, and education since 2006.
The PSOTCo’s mission is to educate pediatricians and other health care professionals about all aspects of tobacco prevention and control, including how to counsel patients and families, offer treatment and/or referral for tobacco dependence, and advocate for public policies necessary to reduce tobacco dependence and exposure to tobacco smoke.
All AAP members are welcome to join us in accomplishing the mission and goals of the section. Let us answer your questions as we start this exciting phase of recruitment and strategic planning. We want to hear from you!
If you or someone you know would like to join the PSOTCo to be a strong voice in pediatric tobacco control, view our membership information.
