About the Section

The Section on Infectious Diseases was founded in 1990. It enables members who are primarily interested in pediatric infectious diseases to meet for the purpose of developing ideas and generating educational forums that will improve the care of infants, children, and adolescents. The section also serves in a liaison capacity to the AAP Board of Directors.

The Section on Infectious Diseases contributes to the AAP mission by providing quality educational programs for both the general pediatrician and the pediatric subspecialist. Specifically, the section provides educational programming at the AAP National Conference & Exhibition (NCE) and, in collaboration with the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (PIDS), a continuing medical education (CME) course.
