SOID Education Award

The SOID Award for Lifetime Contribution in Infectious Diseases Education is given annually to an Academy member who has made outstanding contributions to education in infectious diseases. The award was established in 2004 to acknowledge those with a long and distinguished history as infectious diseases educators of AAP membership. The recipient receives a cash award as well as travel to the National Convention and Exhibition for him/herself and a family member. Previous recipients include:

SOID Resident/Training Fellow Travel Grants

One of the roles of the SOID is to promote the education of those physicians interested in infectious diseases. We are pleased to be able to offer NCE travel grants to residents or fellows in training with an interest in infectious diseases. The following recipients were selected by lottery and will receive $1,200 to defer the costs of airfare, registration, hotel, meals, and incidentals to attend the AAP National Convention and Exhibition.


Congratulations to our recipients below who attended the 2012 NCE.


The travel grant application is now available for the 2013 NCE in Orlando, Florida.

PREP IDA Comprehensive Review and Update of Pediatric Infectious Diseases

The next PREP ID course will be held in Chicago, Illinois on July 22-27, 2013.  PREP ID is
co-sponsored by the AAP Section on Infectious Diseases and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.

You should attend PREP®:ID if you are:

  • Preparing to participate in the Subspecialty Certifying Examination in Pediatric Infectious Diseases to be administered by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Preparing to participate in the Program for Maintenance of Certification™ (MOC).
  • A pediatrician or family physician interested in a unique review and update of pediatric infectious diseases that can be applied to daily practice.
  • A pediatric infectious diseases specialist interested in a comprehensive review and update of pediatric infectious diseases.
