Scope of Committee Work

The coder's committee works with the AAP and AMA to keep current on deleted and new codes. Refinements in the verbiage for definitions and the production of new codes to be presented to the Editorial Panel of the AMA are also continuing projects. The committee produces a yearly toolkit and presents conferences in each district, at the NCE and at the Scottsdale meeting.

Quick Reference Guide to Neonatal Coding and Documentation

Over the past decade, there has been an effort to simplify coding for neonatal services. This work has resulted in a set of codes for normal, intensive, and critically ill newborns that is unique to this patient population. Co-authored by Section Coding Committee leaders Gilbert Martin and Richard Molteni, the Quick Reference Guide to Neonatal Coding and Documentation provides the information you need to code correctly and most effectively for your practice.

  • Neonatal Coding 101
  • Diagnosis Coding
  • Special Codes for Neonatology
  • Resource-based Relative Value Scale Overview
  • Coding Questions and Answers in Neonatology
