Introduction

The Section on Plastic Surgery was founded in 1987 and is dedi-cated to improving the care of infants, children and adolescents by providing an educational forum for the discussion of problems and treatments related to plastic surgery in children. Membership in the Section is open to physicians boarded by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who devote 50% of their practice to the care of infants, children and adolescents.

The Section on Plastic Surgery holds educational programming at the AAP National Conference & Exhibition. The Section also pro-poses educational topics for seminars and plenary sessions that would be of interest to the general pediatrician. An informational business meeting for section members is held in the fall in con-junction with the ASPRS convention.

The Section acts as an expert resource to the AAP by providing assistance to policy-creating bodies. The Section works closely with other plastic surgical organizations to ensure cooperation and cross-communication across the specialty.
