National Conference and Exhibition
Come see all the Section on Medical Students, Residents, and Fellowship Trainees (SOMSRFT) is doing at this year’s National Conference & Exhibition in San Diego, CA. To many first time attendees, the conference can be rather overwhelming. We’ve pulled out what we think you would want to be a part of. Click here for a special invitation to the meeting from the NCE Planning Group Chair.
SOMSRFT Educational Program (aka SOMSRFT Assembly):
Be Our Guest: An Invitation to Learn How to Be an Effective Child Health Advocate and
an Academy Leader within Your Professional Home
The SOMSRFT Assembly at the NCE is the annual business meeting for general SOMSRFT members. The Assembly serves as the forum to conduct critical business matters such as election of national officers, development and approval of Section resolutions to be submitted at the ALF, and basic training of new Executive Committee members. Moreover, the Assembly serves as the primary forum to debut the Section’s Annual Advocacy Campaign, present significant awards, and to meet senior AAP leadership.
Two specific proposed sessions merit further mention. First, the Medical Student program has been a new and highly appraised event specifically geared toward medical student issues such as becoming an excellent residency applicant and how to determine the best residency program. These sessions are led by local residency program leaders and have been met with wonderful success.
Finally, the SOMSRFT Poster Display highlights poster presentations from the SOMSRFT Clinical Case Competition. Drs. Nazarian and Kamath, from Peds in Review, attend and determine the winner from the Top 10 finalists. In addition, recipients of the International Travel Grants are invited to display posters highlighting the work they performed while on international rotations/electives.
SOMSRFT Reception & Poster Display:
On behalf of the SOMSRFT Executive Committee we’d like to invite you to a special reception Saturday, October 11th from 6:30-7:30 pm to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Section. The reception will take place on the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier. Come enjoy an evening of free food and drinks, while networking and viewing the section’s clinical case posters. (Information regarding transportation to the reception will be provided onsite)
